    I hate iCloud

With a vengeance. Dictatorial. Unbending. Confusing. Irrational.

Did I mention that I hated iCloud ?

I decided that I wanted to restore my Photos library on my main iMac to a more pristine version. I disconnected from iCloud because that was where I felt all my problems were coming from. I then restored the Photos library to the state I wanted. I then thought to re-connect to iCloud and so this new Photos library would propagate through. Not a chance. Hell will freeze over before iCloud does anything useful.

When I click the box to turn on Photos in iCloud I get this message

No, iCloud, I do not want your photos. I want you to take mine.

icloud steals my photos, and won’t let me have them back , except under very special conditions.
Or so it seems to me.
I kind of like just storing them on an SD card or USB stick.

    I don’t like icloud either.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

I have tried to avoid iCloud like I avoid life threatening diseases. I don't know how malevolent it really is, but I've not been inclined to try. Does anyone have a good word to say about it? Maybe some people have found out how to make it work as they want to, or maybe they're just prepared to put up with whatever it does to mangle their data. I use SSDs or USB sticks generally for storing data.
