Qobuz App update December 1st 2020

Having been notified of an update to the QOBUZ App for Windows 10, I followed the instruction to restart the App. Result? No working search facility. Unistalled App and reinstalled the previous verson. Anyone else findig the same problem?

Prior to update: happiness. After update: misery.

Not only unable to search but since the updated I have been unable to play playlists, favourites or anything which wasn't saved in the cache.

I've fired off a query to the helpdesk so awaiting response before uninstalling.

As a matter of interest how did you ensure that you installed the previous version (ie without the update)?

You may have resolved this yourself by now (I have been out walking the local woodland). However, I just used the standard uninstall process via settings/apps, then went back to an earlier installation download I had hanging around in my download folder. I used that to search for and listen to some Zappa. The same update message was shown towards the top of the screen, so when I had done my listening I took the risk of clicking on the restart link and this time it worked as hoped for. I can only assume that the fault had been detected and resolved in the interim. I have just tried it again and the search is working. I will try a few other tests and report back.

Ah. All offline items lost from the list, including those purchased. I will uninstall again and see if the earlier version recovers them.

No, whole offline library lost. What a mess! The Purchase list is there but the items in it have been removed from my offline library.

Can’t beat the ease of loading a CD in a player and hitting “play”...

              Yup!
Downloads go on CDR and any streaming sources are ephemeral!

It's even easier to click a button on the phone ...no issues hunting through one's collection either.

Not so ephemeral if one used the QUBUZ import facility to retain a stream for offline playback. As to all the faff of changing CDs is redundant when streaming or playing back imported or downloaded files of the same or higher audio quality.

Not interested in a virtually unlimited library of CD recordings, updated each month for new releases, for less than the price of a new CD in CD quality sound or better?

I seem to have developed an allergy to all things virtual over the last few months. As Marvin Gaye said ‘ain’t nothing like the real thing!
I’ll remain a backwoodsman for now!

So your files of paid-for downloads have been removed? Do you have a backup to access and re-install those files?
Will you be asking for recompense in the time to be spent recovering what you have paid for?

I do it all (well, at least digital, no more vinyl or tapes). I have Qobuz, I stream my own CDs that I have burned and discarded, and I still spin silver discs. Can’t say that I enjoy searching a data base as much as do grabbing a CD off the shelf, and I don’t find my CDs made unavailable every time a new update hits my streaming software

A few workarounds while Qobuz get their act together and sort out this debacle.

                            1. Stream Qobuz via the mobile app through the hifi system's DAC (either wired or bluetooth). This works fine, although sound quality is limited to 16/44 over Bluetooth.

                            2. Connect to Qobuz via Audirvana using the free monthly trial. Streams up to 24/192. So far so good. These ears can't detect any noticeable improvement over the Qobuz desktop app so at a cost of £85pa may not prove to be an effective long term solution.

                            3. Re-install Qobuz to its previous version. Haven't yet tried this due to possible issues with loss of data but many thanks to member Bryn for providing the exe file.

All the download files have been saved to external drives. As far as I know, I can re-download via the "PURCHASES" listing, if required*. I am currently engaged in an exchange of messages on the audiophilestyle.com "official Qobus issues thread" regarding the restoration of purchases to the "OFFLINE LIBRARY".

                              *Just confirmed.
