    Locked out of Amazon

...I am trying to send a Amazon Fire gizmo back to Amazon before the warranty finishes early Dec2020....I have tried to enter my account in the normal way email +password (cheeky buggers have recently bypassed my need to sign in /enter my credit card number without my asking)....Today Email +password produced another pop up saying it was sending me a verification link to my phone to tap on....but I have a 'brick' phone (with a small type sim card) and cannot respond....I have looked everywhere and can find no way to solve how to get hold of them.....all attempts by various avenues have all ended up in the cul de sac of this verification tap on link....before anything else can happen...

    ....any ideas please...

They give a telephone contact# 1-800-388-5512.....but that makes no connection...

    You could try this number:

Contact Amazon UK customer service advisors on their free-to-call phone number 0800 279 7234. This is the general enquiries helpline for Amazon UK customers so any query about your Amazon order, including if it hasn't arrived on time or there is a problem with the item received, should be directed to this phone number.
Otherwise, find a trusted friend with a smartphone and use that (if you're able temporarily to change your mobile contact number!).

    Good luck.

That's a US toll-free number, almost certainly not valid from here.
Good luck with the UK one!

If you can't get through try live chat here (often frustrating but usually quick response & it might work...)...

Good idea to draft your complaint first with all the detail, then copy&paste when you're live....

If you can't get to Live Chat - which has helped me - (I wonder if you need to be logged in first though .....) then I hope you have someone with a different account who can get a phone number in the UK for you from their live chat.

The Amazon UK "Contact Us" page says:
"Fewer phone associates are available. There may be a wait to get help over the phone"
The delay might be for ever, because I can't find a phone number at all.

It does say on that page (under the chat button) "Need help over phone? We can call you." But again I surmise you can't generate the page to give details (about which they would call you back) unless you are logged in.

That would be crazy. But all too possible. Sorry Eighth, its probably the situation you least need.......

Seconded. I know the 'panic' feeling that you/one can get, as well as the frustration, so sympathise; good to know that it's all resolved (and presumably that you can access your account again).

....it is something that all of us who only have a 'brick' phone find at least once a quarter....the idea that Unilersal Credit can dispensed basically only online is something that really needs sorting....people evicted because of this. when will they realise that some of us have to live life on the cheap....I only get State Pension....lockdown is an expense....I know Jane wrote of a battle with her Electricity supplier....panic, stress, and for me in the end an operative in the Caribbean sorts it out. 4 hours wasted, cold feet and knees from keeping still for so long....The music that could have accompanied this excursion might have been RVW Fantasy TTT, because I felt like (if you remember) Hannah Hauxwell : Too Long A Winter....lol

Well, it took three different humans to sort it eventually. The first was hopeless, the second not much better and the third sorted it out in 10 minutes !!

Thirded. Now if anyone can tell me how to get the £69 that the thieving b******s at Currys have stolen from me then I'd be very grateful. I am tempted to go into their nearest store (when it re-opens) and ask 'Have you got a Panasonic Microwave XYz?" "Yes". "Can I see it please?" and then walk out of the store with it since I have already paid for it.
