    Waves NX

I wonder if anyone here has tried Waves Nx, which is supposed to help with creating a "final" product with spatial characteristics, but monitoring over headphones. Seems really intended for producers who are mixing together a whole bunch of different channels, The demos sound quite good, but maybe one might expect them to - the vendors will naturally tout these as the best thing since Wonderloaf.

Want to create great mixes but don’t have an acoustically perfect room? This plugin recreates the acoustics of a high-end studio inside your headphones.

    Waves plugins are quite good
I don't use them myself but I know others who are keen.

Lots of other options about as well

The demo tracks seem quite good, and it's possible to turn the Nx feature on/off for comparisons. It's definitely (IMO) more comfortable with headphones to have the Nx turned on, though some might find it too "subtle". It's not intended for loudspeaker listening but supposedly one can mix with headphones, and then the results can be played in stereo or surround over a speaker system - or presumably one can have a version for headphone listening

For examples load up https://www.waves.com/nx/player then select an option - such as Various, which leads to Classical, Jazz etc.

There's an 'Nx On' toggle button down on the RHS.

What other options do you know about or recommend?

        I use this sometimes

A toolset for authoring, transforming and decoding spatial sound fields.

But there are loads of things

Mix, monitor, and render Ambisonics tracks right out of the box. Achieve the most accurate spatialization together with the Sennheiser AMBEO VR mic.

David Poirier-Quinot has released Anaglyph, a high-quality freeware (for non-commercial use) binaural spatialization effect in VST plugin format for digital audio workstations on PC and Mac. The developer shared the Anaglyph concept with the public a while ago (the demo video featured below was published back in 2016), but the actual plugin wasn’t available for download

and so on and so on

Thanks - will investigate some or all of those. I have a bit of a backlog of things to check out, but I am making progress.

Might put that on hold for the moment (saves me having to reorganise my editing room - or spare bedroom as it is otherwise known).

What price would you suggest for someone living on a slightly enhanced deferred State Pension with no rent to pay?

Though there are some equally wonderful things elsewhere on the label site

Indeed, but I was expecting others might find that for themselves.
