For some reason I can get Qobuz to play in my car—it stops after 15 seconds. Otherwise, the new account works well, I cannot get it to play on Bryston streamer but pretty sure that is a Bryston issue. It plays on Bluesound. I think the Sonics of the High Rez are just a notch below my SACD and downloads but just a slight drop

Where is your car when you can get this? Is it picking up WiFi (from your house/apartment) or do you have a radio (satellite radio?) connection, or a 4/5G connection for your car? Not sure what the state of play is in your part of the US.

Does it always drop after exactly 15 seconds? If so, it sounds deliberate, and is probably a feature of the package you’re on. Otherwise could it just be that your car goes out of range of whatever is sending the stream?

I have experienced the same issue to which I have found two fixes. 1: Download the music you are going to hear before you leave so that it plays from the offline library which works every time. 2. Switch the wifi off on the phone so that the app doesn't try to keep making connection with the wifi. Check that the app settings allow for mobile data.

I noticed this before I switched to using the Qobuz desktop software (NB not the web player) and selecting the option to link the output directly to my DAC (ie rather than Direct Sound or WASAPI. Moreover, you need to check that you haven't capped the frequency or bit rate in your settings (easily done!).

How anyone could think that for the price of one or two CDs a month, access to a huge library of recordings which one never has a hope of exhausting, in superlative sound, does not represent good VFM is beyond me, I'm afraid!

There you go again, telling me how to spend my money! For those that want this I'm sure it is good value, but there are other people ....

I'm not in the impoverished category, but even in the UK there are people for whom the price of one or two CDs a month represents a significant amount, and some are really badly affected right now.

Are you using Apple CarPlay by any chance? That doesn’t yet work unless you download the album to the phone - it’s something they’re aware of and it’s on their list of things to fix. I’ve found starting album playback on the phone (before starting to drive of course) works fine here in the U.K.

Otherwise I’m struggling to see how specifically being in the car can affect streaming - the player doesn’t know, or care, if you’re listening over headphones or are connected to a car stereo. The only thing I can think of is that it’s an app setting issue when streaming over the phone network. I did also wonder if you were trying to stream an album that was only available as a purchase, but they give 30 second previews not 15.

I use an Android phone and Blu tooth in the car. It may be stopping after 30 seconds, not 15, I haven’t timed it. And it’s possible that the recordings are the purchase only, as I have been trying the recordings they have listed in the first page of the Classical offerings, as I basically am just getting a quick listen in while driving and not delving deep into the menus. I could download the entire recording first, but that eliminates the spontaneity. It’s useful for a long car ride, but we probably won’t be doing those until a Covid Vaccine comes out.
