Recommendation for ear buds

As I've already got the headphone amp by the TV, a simple Bluetooth transmitter will suffice, I think. The only reservation I have is possible audio delay and loss of lipsync. Mind you, with most actors mumbling their lines these days, it probably wouldn't make that much difference!

I actually reinstated our powerline links (TP-Link) a few days ago. The lip sync problems with our TV - using a wireless link, turned out to be too severe. They got worse the longer we watched. Replacing the wireless link by the mains link appears to have resolved that mostly.

If there are any radio operators close by I apologise. I'm not going to write that there are no problems with interference, or other issues, with Powerline systems, but largely for many people I think these are exaggerated. I have had to scrap some (Zyxel) which failed.

I have found that my alternative approach, using direct ethernet cable links - I believe I still have 20 metres - which is technically generally superior, tends to upset the domestic arrangements as at least one other occupant dislikes stepping over them when I lay them out en route between the router and the desired destination point.

I paid to have our 3 level house ethernet Wired a few years ago. The wires are invisible now. No more buffering issues while watch video or dropouts while burning CDs. Our alarm system is also on the ethernet. I have heard good things about the the wifi mesh, however.

Certainly you can't beat hard-wired. Really should have done it here when we renovated the place. The problem was, my wife kept changing her mind about the layout !

We are now Mesh enabled using Fritz boxes. I started off with a Fritz box as the main router. Then we converted (with the same excellent ISP..Zen) to fibre-to-the-cabinet. That meant we were sent another Fritz box as part of the upgrade package. Their tech support suggested I re-worked the first Fritz box to become a Mesh repeater. I put it inside the workshop and it works a treat. I now have two more repeaters for inside the house ...an old Georgian and so 3 ft thick internal walls are not conducive to wi-fi. Their user-interface is excellent and it's interesting to see which devices connect to which part of the mesh and when.

I can't speak highly enough of the Fritz kit. It's designed in Germany. Now who said that theGermans didn't have a sense of humour !

The next generation of hearing aids are supposed to incorporate the newest Bluetooth codec and will supposedly be much better at distinguishing between and individual talking and the roar of the crowd in a setting such as a crowded restaurant. They also will be easier for devices to access for music and AV devices
