    Browser hijack malware

    I was looking at one of our machines (not mine, btw), and opened up Firefox. I noticed that the search bar seemed oddly to have the letters MW by the side. Turns out it must have been hijacked by something called MyWay - definitely to be avoided.

    Also seems a bit tricky to get rid of, so I canned Firefox, then downloaded a new copy, and rejected any "offers" to reinstall existing links, software etc. Then I added in the DuckDuckGo extension - so hopefully it'll be OK now.

    I'm probably the only one who uses Firefox on that machine - an older MacBook Air. I just hope that the malware hasn't spread to other parts, and that I have actually shut it down.
