I realise that we actually have a Roberts Classic 996 in the bathroom - nice little set with reasonable sound. Not future/Boris proof though as only AM/FM, no alarm, either.

We have a Robert's Solar DAB for the bathroom. Avoids using batteries.
Remember when radio reception failed when you drove under a bridge? Once I was talking to my husband in the car when we approached a bridge and I stopped mid-sentence. He found it highly amusing
I can't see anything that looks like for that function.
Have buildings recently gone up in your vicinity, dovers? I'm trying to think what might be acting as a shield between where you are and the signal transmitter.

This is supposed to be (not everybody agrees when they want to build a house) an area of outstanding beauty, so there are no building higher than normal houses, old or new.
I took the radio outside and turned it on. Well, blow me! I heard Tom Service talking about the moon quite clearly. I turned it off, borought it back indoors and turned it back on and I could still hear him. After all those days of frustration, the trouble seems to have evapolated on its own accord. I hope this is the end of the trouble but I'm not holding my breath.
Many, many thanks for all your thoughts. Where elese could I possibly have been taken seriously about a 20-year old transittor radio?
