    Audacity 2.3.2

I'm trying to get a good version of the latest Audacity - which I think is version 2.3.2 for MacOS

So far I've only managed to get somewhat mangled versions, which have a totally screwed up interface - though the underlying software seems to work "sort of".

I've never had this problem with previous versions of Audacity, but this is making me wonder if I should in revert to my previous somewhat older version - which will mean using Time Machine perhaps - I know mrgg hates that, but at least it worked - though lacked some of the claimed features of the newer version.

Has anyone else noticed a problem with the latest version for MacOS?

I noticed recently that if I reset the toolbars the latest version seems to work as I'd hoped - or more or less, but there's something wrong with the start up. Probably a simple fix - which might be remedied in an overnight update. As it starts there is a jumble of icons for the different toolbar options on the screen - but once the toolbar reset is applied things go back into their "normal" places.

I’ve got Reaper, but don’t use it too much yet. For some things Audacity is good enough.

Last time I used Audacity it felt like playing the piano with boxing gloves
So if you just need a basic audio editor why bother with the "new" version ?

To an extent you are right. I was trying to find a way to do a click track. There is, apparently, a plug-in. The plug-in is supposed to be bundled in with the new version, but as others seem to have found, some things are not in the places “they should be”, and the new version doesn’t seem to be a big improvement if the new “features” don’t actually install and work easily.

I may revert to the previous version, even if that does mean using TM - a tool which you don’t like/approve of. It’s a bit of a nuisance.

Re click track, I may give up on that and simply use a metronome app on my iPad instead.

I never tried playing the piano with boxing gloves - I don’t have such apparel.

TM is fine until is fails to work when you need it
a bit like having a parachute that opens 75% of the time

What tempo click do you want ?

Plenty of things about (5 second search)

Click Tracks, Backing Pads, Multi-Tracks, MIDI control - tools for practice and live performance.

Curious. You're going to write "told you so ...". TM seemed to work, and what I assume is the old version of Audacity was recovered, and put back into the Applications folder. So far so good.

However, it doesn't actually work. Perhaps not a big deal - I have other machines with versions which work, and the new version does seem to work, but with a few quirky issues.

Re metronome - I have a whole bunch on my ipad, so it is possible to use that with headphones to record either onto an SD card or direct to my laptop.
