    WAV file in Spotify

Is there a way to get Spotify to play a WAV file? A friend sent me a WAV recording which I've tried to convert to MP3 so that Spotify would play it but it is rejected. Grateful for any suggestions.

Did you use a tool such as Audacity to do the conversion? Should be easy with Audacity.

Is it possible to load one's own music on to Spotify - sorry I don't use it, so that is a genuine question.

Not sure if you are on the Apple or not side of the divide. Doesn't your computer have a player - on Wndows 7 Windows Media Player would (I imagine) at least play it so you could hear it, and there must be an apple equivalent. Or other music playing programs...

If you have difficulty &/or unfamiliarity with converting the format, maybe get someone to help - as its a one-off?

(Sorry, I don't use Spotify, so I realise I'm not exactly helping with your original question).

Don't worry - I do use Spotify (albeit sparingly) and also had the same questions as you!

I used to subscribe. I think uploads were introduced as a feature some while back, though things may have changed again since. Perhaps look at the Spotify manual.

No, I received the file from something called We Transfer and downloaded it into a free MP3 converter but every time I try to move the resultant MP3 file into Spotify a little No Entry sign appears so I've assumed that I've done something wrong or left something out. I can transfer the file into iTunes but it won't transfer out to Spotify. The Spotify Help page suggests transferring files from ITunes to Quicktime and thence to Spotify but I can't get Quicktime to load so I remain stuck!
The reason for all this palaver is that I want to listen to the WAV -a wonderful performance of Schubert's G major sonata by Yuri Paterson-Olenich - on decent speakers via Chromecast from Spotify. Even better if I could cast from the WAV but I don't have the equipment for that.

One possibility is that Spotify is doing a check on DRM, and thinks the video file is copyrighted/DRM protected. It says in the notes on uploading local files that it won't do those if they are not DRM/copyright free.

Are you running on Windows or on some other OS? You mention Quicktime, and that suggests Apple. I believe there were versions of Quicktime which ran on Windows, but those were withdrawn a year or two back. It's still possible to run Quicktime on Apple kit.

I'm on Windows so no wonder Quicktime won't load. Perhaps DRM is the problem so I'll go back to the source to find out. Thanks for the suggestions.
