My comment re store distance was slightly tongue in cheek. You missed the main point that I was making namely lack of availability of the right model for demo'ing.

I don’t think I did, though I was making an assumption that models would be fairly common, and probably current. There’s usually a store that does stock such models - at least from the more “major” manufacturers. If the kit is high end and esoteric, dealers will often come and demo/test drive the system in one’s own home - which partially answers Richard’s point. If all else fails, use the customer service - for example chat or email - of the manufacturer.
