I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on 2 PCs and consider it to be the best O/S ever. The only real fix I did was to change the Windows explorer link to C:\Windows\explorer.exe /n,/e,c:\ so that it opens at the C drive. I also used that link on my other spare PC which I "upgraded" to Windows 10 - which incidentally is still free!
