Roku Stick+ and iPlayer

I bought a Roku Stick+ to get better HD and ultimately UHD displays. Unfortunately control over BBC iPlayer seems less effective than using a NowTV box (also from Roku) with no pause or fast rewind or fast forward on live streams. I thought the stick had done the latest update from Roku, so should be OK and compatible with iPlayer. One other factor might be a “need” to register and login on the BBC site, but I tried that too, and it makes no difference.

This is a shame as in other respects this gadget from Roku does deliver on picture quality. I have looked for updates and solutions, but so far to no avail.

Can you get a refund? Try the Google stick next.
If memory serves you also have an Apple TV somewhere in your stash of gadedtry. Have you tried that with the iplayer? That Apple remote with the wheely thing might work well for what you describe. The new ATV, btw, dispensed with that remote

I probably could get a refund - as this was bought from Amazon, though I'm reluctant to do that as in other respects the quality is good. My ATV is an earlier one, and doesn't support iPlayer AFAIK. Possibly in the longer term this issue with the Roku and iPlayer will be fixed. On smaller TVs the quality differences wouldn't be noticeable, but on our large TV it is worth having the extra picture quality.

The pause and rewind/fast forward features do work on catchup - but not on Live streams - and it is quite often useful to have those features for sports events, such as Wimbledon.

I wonder - has something been updated recently, either in iPlayer or in Roku's stick? The pause, rewind and fast forward features seems to have been working for a week or so now. They definitely weren't before. I think I'm now able to do these operations with live streams.
