    Uploading Sound Files to Twitter

Reluctantly, I've joined twitter - basically to promote my work. Problem is, when I try to uplaod MP3 files to it, I'm told that twitter 'doesn't support' them. Still a bit of technophobe, I'm wondering how I can surmount this problem (is possible?). Is there a simple way of converting mp3 files to something more acceptable to twitter? Or is 'sound only' just banned?

I have a few twitter accounts, but I hardly ever use them. Waste of time for me - I just opened them to experiment.

I think you need to put the music files somewhere where there can be an identifiable URL. Then you just put the URL in your tweets. If you grab a URL from somewhere else - e.g Spotify, qobuz etc., it may be too long, so use one of the shortener tools to make it shorter, then send to twitter.

    See here for shorteners https://www.lifewire.com/shortening-long-links-3486603

Actually you no longer need to use a shortener tool as Twitter now does this for you. Links shared on Twitter are automatically processed and shortened to an http://t.co link. However, I agree about storing the files on some form of file hosting site as Twitter does not provide this.

This article appears to offer advice on how to share mp3 files on twitter.

I am not a Twitter user but it seems likely that the method I use for making WeTransfer uploads available without using the recipients' email addresses should also apply to Twitter texts. I simply send the files to my own email address, then quote the short URL provided in the confirmation email from WeTransfer for the download in PM's etc. to the intended recipient.

That will work, but the files may only have a time limited existence. Depends what the intended use and/or audience is.
