    Getting rid of tricky software

I was asked to recover some photos from a memory card, and I tried various packages. I did actually manage to recover some of the photos.

However, one application I tried, Disk Drill - has since caused problems. Deleting it from Mac OS X doesn't seem simple or straightforward. What it seems to do (I have no idea why ...) is to copy some files to a "hidden" directory, called .cleverfiles on the main drive. This directory takes up space, and is basically a nuisance.

I think the "theory" is that it will be useful if you ever need to recover files accidentally deleted, which maybe Disk Drill can manage, but actually it just seems to waste space and generally be a pain.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to try this software - as problems may be very likely to occur, but if anyone has done so in the past, and subsequently got rid of it, I'd be glad to hear of it.
