I have successfully 'upgraded' two laptops to the new "Creators Update". Not without a struggle, however. One surprise was that the AMD powered HP Envy which gave so many problems with Windows updates earlier in the year was much less problematic this time. The other success was with an i7 powered HP. That took ages but seems to be running well. so far. Two other laptops, both i3 powered Acers, have either simply refused the update or failed in the attempt and lost touchpad functionality in the process (back to using a USB mouse with that one).
The cover of the current issue of "Computer active" caught my eye in Waitrose today, "WINDOWS UPDATE WARNING Make sure your PC survives the latest changes" "10-STEP PLANIN SIDE". Hopefully the £1.99 cover price will save a bit of trial and error with the recalcitrant laptops.
