    Homeplug/powerline links again

Has anybody else (other than myself) had any experience with multiple links via Homeplug/Powerline devices.

We returned from a holiday to find that the link between the TV and the router had broken - looks like one of the Zyxel plugs has given up the ghost. I recovered the link and hence BT TV in time to watch some of the US Open by substituting a couple of TP-Link plugs I had elsewhere.

The consequence of that is that one link is down, and I don't want all the plugs on the same circuit as they're connected to two different routers. The TP link plugs are quite easy to configure, but my guess is that as I want to have two separate links I'll either have to install management software (only Windows is regularly available, though there are some Apple beta sites) or else configure by unplugging already paired up units, then pairing the rest, then plugging them all back in in appropriate locations.

Has anyone else ever tried this?

Sorry, no. (Never know if better not to post such a reply, or leave your question completely unanswered) I have always kept to Devolo products and only link to one Router. We're about to get our first smart flat screen TV so I will see how the Devolo copes with that....

Thanks anyway. Preliminary investigations suggest that without proper management software that running disconnected (i.e. non interacting) sub nets on the same house wiring may be tricky. It was possible with some of the previous units - Zyxel - until the recent failure. I'll check with the TP Link people for advice.

This page hints that using a sofware management system might work - http://uk.tp-link.com/faq-258.html

What would be required would be to change the Network Name from the default - which is HomePlug. I'm still checking this out.
