    Firefox suddenly refuses to start

Yesterday the Firefox (53.0.2) running on my PC suddenly refused to start.

After de-installing and reinstalling, then doing a totally clean install - all to no avail - I discovered that, without any warning that I am aware of, Mozilla tightened up on video drivers that it blocks. My Nvidia driver was two years old. I downloaded and installed the current driver and suddenly Firefox started working again.

Mind you, because I had done a clean install, I then had to copy my original profile over and edit the profile.ini file in order to get back the bookmarks, etc, etc.

I'm posting this in case someone else hits a similar issue with Firefox

Apologies. My assumptions in my original post were wrong. There might or might not be an issue with video drivers - but that was not the cause of Firefox not starting up.

I finally tracked the down to an incompatibility between the current Firefox 53.0.2 and Trusteer Rapport software (that is recommended by my bank). Firefox 53.0.2 will not start if Trusteer Rapport is running. It will start if Trusteer Rapport is stopped.

So, until the issue is resolved I've switched to Chrome.
