    Another tag test

It looks as though tags might only work in the first post of each thread, and are associated with threads rather than individual posts.

    This test may verify that.

Indeed it seems to do that. There are if I remember five tags associated with this thread. I wonder if anyone can figure out what they are!

Four are names of composers - one with several parts to the tag name, and one is the name of an animal.

    Is the animal a kangaroo?

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I think since you have already displayed a tag cloud with that word in that and there weren't many other animals I'll have to confess it was. However, there doesn't seem to be any way I can now find out what tags were actually used on that post or thread - other than perhaps trying random searches to see if the thread/post pops up.

This doesn't seem over helpful. It looks as though there is a one time opportunity to put in tags at the start of a thread, and after that nothing can be changed, and no information gained other than by trial and error searches. However you may be able to do more. Out of devilment I wanted to change the kangaroo tag to aardvark.

I just use Spotlight and Find or Search. Seems to work for me to find stuff that I need to.

I didn't know I was especially privileged in that. Down at the bottom of the page, above Posting Permissions, are Tags for this Thread with a button to Add or Edit. The five tags are listed there. With a link to the tag cloud.

Well dang me! I didn't know that - or if I ever did I forgot.

kangaroo has now been replaced by aardvark!

Next question, is it only the thread originator who can change the tags?

Dunno. I would think the person who created the tag would be the one to change it - but you can tag other people's threads - according to the ACP.

I'm intrigued that, as you say, kangaroo turned up on the 57 most used. Suggests people don't tag that often.

Since aardvark has now turned up, that does indeed suggest that few people use the feature Could also be a bug, as kangaroo now seems to have vanished from the tag cloud - though perhaps it only works on currently active tags.
