    Macbook security locks

The new Macs don't have slots for the standard Kensington-type cables.

I've been investigating this site for a lock for a MacBook Air. It might negate the benefits of getting the Air as being extra portable.

    Any recommendations?

You raise an interesting query. With my 2013 MBP in front of me I can't see any way of attaching a lock so I'm not sure if many portables do have lock features.

The most vulnerability I've noticed with laptops is taking them through airports, when for a short time one is sometimes separated from one's expensive gear. There are people out there who are unscrupulous enough to exploit this by picking up the "wrong" items as they come out of the security scanners, and I know of one instance where this actually did result in a theft of a laptop, and it was then difficult to persuade an insurance company to pay up. It's slightly less of a problem if there are two or more people travelling together, but airport security is a definite problem area for people travelling with valuable kit.

There was a story of someone working on his Macbook in Starbucks when a chap simply snatched it away from him and disappeared out to a car and was gone. My problem is working in a library where you have to leave your seat to look for things on the open shelves.

This is the slot on my 2008 MBP, but most of the Macbooks are super thin now:
