    Problem burning a CD

I have my own recently purchased copy of the Britten War Requiem on Testament (and a rather remarkable recording it is). It fits on one CD.

I want to make a copy for my own use playing in the car but iTunes wants to split it over two CDs. I can't figure out a way to fit it on one CD.

What is the total duration of the recording? If less than around 81' 30" the Nero Burning Rom should be able to handle it over-burning to most nominally 80' CD-Rs with a compatible burner, (most modern burners are).

Toast is expensive. Disk Utility will copy CDs I discovered but it too threw up its hands and said Split the disk

It is if you buy the new version
But for what you need you can simply buy an old one for £15 or so

Why not put in on two discs and pull in when you need to change over or if your car audio system has the facility put it on a memory stick.

Not really viable on a motorway.

MrGG...can't track down any old version of Toast, I'm afraid.

Did buy a copy of Burn from the App store. What a useless program that turned out to be. Very Eric Morecambe. It burned the tracks. Just not in the right order. Neither did it burn any track titles etc.

                  Given up.

The thought of listening to something as overwhelming as the War Reqiem in a car is somewhat, well, overwhelming!

Does your car audio play mp3 discs or have USB?

I think there's an app version of Toast in the Apple store for around £15, as mrgg suggests. I've not tried it for that particular CD burning application, but I have used it to make DVDs. The full version is indeed quite expensive - around £80 last time I looked. If iTunes doesn't work, isn't there a free one called CD Burner which might very well work?

I agree with the memory stick as the option. I've got a 128Mb stick in the car which provides me with more than enough music for any journey I might be thinking of undertaking. I also have a Hi-Res Sony Walkman Hi-plugged into the aux input with various Playlists set up so that I can pre-select what I want to listen to.

Both our cars are technologically challenged. They wouldn't know what to do with a USB stick!

I think the problem probably lies in the size of the blank CD being used. If an audio CD is being produced it will be the same size regardless of the software being used.
