I wonder what software they used ?

OK, there have been some pretty smart guys in the past, but that doesn't mean it was easy for them or that anyone/everyone could do it. Also speed, or lack of it, may have been a factor. Newton was a genius, but it took him 20 years to prove to his satisfaction that a uniform sphere behaved like a point with the same mass at its centre. This is now trivial mathematics, and can be done in a few minutes by anyone with a modest knowledge of calculus.

Incidentally, Christopher Wren was also very able, both in matheamtics and astronomy, and designed and had built many churches and the occasional cathedral. I suspect the techniques he deployed were an advance on those used by the builders at Chartres, though their achievement is certainly remarkable.

I am seriously interested in what these problems are that you find so intractable
Like many people i'm often juggling lots of complex things with what you call "dependencies" so am I missing something ?

I'm afraid that you'll be waiting for a long time as I don't have the will or energy to engage with you further.

Well, SimpleMind is the program that I've been using and I reckon it's so good that I actually shelled out my hard-earned and bought the Pro version. It will do 95% of what I want to achieve.
