Is Word 2016 on MS's subscription model? I'm trying to boycott any software firms which force me to have a subscription.

The keyboard mapping issues are not insurmountable re Win software running on Macs, but I agree they can be a bit of a pain.

Do I get a copy of your Christmas letter?

Word is available outside of the subscription model - either on disc or as a download...

Thanks, and maybe. But is it worth the bother?! Will it make my tea or coffee? Will it do toast?
Sandwiches at lunch time, and Cordon Bleu cooking in the early evening? Preferably with aperitifs and other embellishments!

There have been times when I felt, for various reasons, that I needed to buy a copy of Office to run on my machines, but I can't see any need to rush to buy that one now.

I was going to mention Adobe's Buzzword (which was kinda nice in its way .... ) but it seems that's gone now - https://www.lifewire.com/review-of-buzzword-3486460

I think AbiWord has been mentioned, and for basic things I have been known to use Google Docs or whatever it's called now. The web based ones do expose one to t'Internet, but nobody seems to care nowadays. They can be useful, sometimes.
