Editing and replying problems using an iPad

Is anyone else having keyboard problems when editing or replying to a post?
Mine keeps freezing, and occasionally crashes out, returning me to the home screen.
Some conflict following the recent OS upgrade on my iPad, I wonder?

Let's try this, from my iPad Pro with the latest iOS.

Seems OK. This is with the on-screen "keyboard". I'd did a brief excursion into Preview mode - no problems. Quite a fast response, which isn't always the case.

      Thanks.
Powered off and on again, which I should have tried before.
Seems OK now! Certainly a faster response to my typing than last time.
      Time will tell.

A propos (almost) - do we think that the latest update to iOS 10 is worth doing?

Initial reports were that it caused problems: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...tware-and-wha/. I've been batting off the incessant reminders to install the update....
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Ouch. Looks like I got away with it - now on 10.0.2. I have no idea what this offers over earlier versions, or even 9.x.x.

I have been warning people around here and elsewhere about the backing up process, or lack of it. I don't particularly want to have to back up every iPad to a desktop computer running iTunes. I actually only have one with enough spare space to make that feasible, so it's all very well Apple trying to pass this kind of problem back to users, and these days there are many who don't have desktop machines anyway, as Apple and the iPhones have been so successful. Apple have resolutely refused to provide any other sensible means of backup (no USB ports, for example and wireless solutions - some by Verbatim and Toshiba, very probably don't work either ...

Read the manuals and user reports very carefully!)

I would suggest to anyone who has an iPad or iPhone that they do actually try to do a backup, if they can, or alternatively route all the important stuff to another machine which does have sensible back up first, before downloading to any iPad or iPhone.

Most probably most of us will "get away with" an upgrade, as I did, but some people may find things go wrong, and it may be quicker to avoid problems if possibly by backing up, than trying to recover from lost systems and data afterwards,

Refer back to my opening though, I have no idea what iOS 10 offers over iOS 9. My machine works - I'm happy with it, and I don't really want it to be "upgraded" unless there are going to be significant benfits/improvements, and I really don't want additional problems.

Similar problem with keyboard freezing when trying to compose a message to accompany sending a link from today's Times, so it looks like an iPad system update bug.
