    iOS file problems

The new iPad Pro is a nice gadget to have for reading magazines and news articles. However there seem to be some significant flaws in the iOS implementation.

I tend to use Papers (3) to store PDFs. There are web sites where PDF files get served out, yet because of the nature of the site, they do not appear as PDFs within iOS. I have found I have to resort to looking at the same page in Mac OS X, then save the file to PDF, then email it to myself in order to force the iPad Pro iOS to put the files into a form in which it can be used within my preferred application.

Another similar problem example is using apps on the iPad Pro to access items. For example, I like using the BBC News app, but if I find something I want to share or put a link to on a web site, sometimes I have to try to find the same page on my Macbook Pro (or other iMac) using OS X, then obtain the link and/or the data and then return that back to the iPad.

Another problem is if someone sends me a large attachment in an email. I may have to read it on my Mac OS X systems, then mail it to myself in order to make it useful on the iPads. This does happen from time to time.

This really IS a pain - some of the documents I'm looking at are 50 pages long (could be more), and displayed on public sites (e.g .gov or council sites) and I really do want to have local copies on my tablet in order to take them to meetings. There is enough space on my tablet to do that, but this faff of having to work around the file systems is a pain, and really shouldn't be necessary. I often prefer using the tablets to see the files, even over some of the laptops and desktops, but this file business .....
