    Square alt code query

Earlier I posted re. a recording of solo vocal music by Hildegard von Bilgen and John Cage. The Cage work has a title I found myself unable to post as intended. I had to use "Sonnekus^2" since the [alt]0178 code brought the response "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms." and my message was lost.

Can anyone here explain why this should be so?

    Sonnekus²2

Is what I get when I type what you described, Bryn - is this what's wanted?

(I must get that Wandelweisser disc!)

With the superscript 2 but without the normal 2. I have just tried [alt]0178 again here, and it was again rejected. Same happens if I use it successfully in Notepad, then try to copy and paste it in here. Very strange.

Beware, there are a lot of very tempting Wandelweiser discs, and the more you order, the lower the pro rata price. Nice people to do business with, too (to can a phrase[sic]). Very polite and helpful. You pay by Paypal.

        Can't you just use [ SUP ] and [ /SUP ] - without the gaps?

If so: x2 should give x squared. But if you go to Go Advanced, you should see the superscript and subscript buttons.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Alternative methods may well work, but i am more concerned about the method I am having trouble with. I now find that the problem is specific to my main PC. I am currently using a different laptop, and the [alt]0178 method works perfectly well on this one. I will have to investigate further.
