Stick them on a large subwoofer and play drum and bass at 120db

What's on them that you think is of vital impertinence ?

Oh, you have but to say and I will pack my little bag …
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

They were my back-up drives, so pretty much everything of importance on my computer!

I managed to blow mine by plugging in the wrong adaptor, but that didn't destroy the files.

There was an episode of Judge John Deed that showed the destruction of a hard drive.

Large amounts of magnetism will wipe anything
I used to know some folks who had a bulk eraser in their studio, it was simply a large electromagnet that you put the spool of tape on and rotated it (making sure you had taken off you watch before!) thus scrambling all the data on the tape.

If you need to really destroy the data there are software options OR these folks will do it for you

Book your session at the Destructivist art event SCRAPCLUB. We welcome you every Friday and Saturday to participate in destruction of your own making. Smash everyday objects with sledgehammers. Retaliate against the onslought of products in your life.

                the real question though is

                "will it blend?"

Tom shows us how when you blend his new Chrome notebook, that the information is safely backed up in "The Cloud"... where ever that is. Tell us what to blen...

My mind worked in an altogether more sinister way - I read the title "How do you dispose of ..." and automatically added the words

An old laptop HD went under the hammer and then the tip. An old desktop HD was disassembled, the head block and the disc assembly having been bent out of shape with a large screwdriver are both used as paperweights and the bent disc assembly is a good talking point for visitors! First the platters as an ornament and then thehead assssembly.

Thank you for this thread, ff... It suddenly made me recall that in a cupboard was my old external drive, which had lots of work stuff on it in previous years!

Amazing what they can do in films, isn't it?

I doubt whether they'd survive the kinds of explosion I'm thinking of.

This sounds like the biz. I can see where one end can be prised off (probably)
