It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

You do seem to have an interesting collection of tools. Blow torches perhaps? Then of course you could try chemicals - acid baths etc.

I think I have a blow torch (not a soldering iron, though).

That should do the job magnificently, probably destroying the magnetic layer altogether, though I would suggest using it in the open air, (not sure what toxic gases might be released in the process).

yes, serious heat of one kind of another does seem to be the way forward.

And then, ff, you could have a little crème brûlée prepared and standing by, ready for some light torching after, to celebrate!

Indeed - and should you need any suggestions about how to dispose of any unwanted crèmes brûlée, I think I might be better able to help than I have been hithertofore on this Thread.

                    Oh, you lawyers!

Actually, the blowtorch hadn't been used for ages was no longer serviceable. I went back to the small hacksaw.

Btw, in the background is a candle for greasing the blade (ceci n'est pas un blowtorch).

                      Brava!

                      How long did that take?

I shouldn't think so - "brulee" means "burnt", and I wouldn't ask for six "cream burnts, please". In English, it would be "six Burnt Creams, please", so I presumed that would be what to ask for in France?

Both wrong, I'd say. Une crème brûlée, deux crèmes brûlées.
