I personally don't want to make an inevitable appearance on surveillance cameras trying to lose computer discs in the river!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Only since your initial post - had a mental image of self dropping computer discs in the river off Waterloo Bridge and blokes monitoring security cameras staring at their screens in dingy rooms, nudging each other and making phone calls....

Sounds like the plot of one of those TV series you enjoy....
Get writing,plenty of time looming.......
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
Actually, that's not like the one I used, nor is it like my coping saw which has a deeper frame and a different way of adjusting the angle of the blade. The one I was using didn't have an adjustable blade.
The top one is my coping saw, the lower one is the one I was using, definitely not a coping saw:
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Looks like a standard craftsman's hacksaw (rather than garage mechanic's). Agree it was the right tool, definitely not a fretsaw, though.

Yes, sorry, I have so many different kinds of saw I get them mixed up . I even have my own handmade wooden bow saw somewhere up in the roof space, though the cord snapped so it falls apart.

Frenchie, do you happen to have, or have access to, a garden incinerator? If so, why not try popping the bent disc in there when its good and hot? That should do a pretty good job of demagnetising it.

I don't. Not even a barbecue. In fact, another thing would be to dig a hole and bury it in the garden. The chances of it being eventually discovered by someone who would have the know-how or inclination to try to recover any useful data (or even recognise what the thing was) would seem rather small. But total destruction does seem a very fulfilling aim …

I did happen to catch up with the latest episode of The Night Manager this evening !!
And "looming" isn't the word... "beckoning seductively" is closer to the mark

Anyway, back to Frenchie's frankly terrifying tool collection........
I know... !
To transgenderise the lyrics of T. Waits Esq:
What's she building in there?
What the hell is she building
In there?
Now what's that sound from under the door?
She's pounding nails into a
Hardwood floor...
She has a router
And a table saw...
I heard she was up on the
Roof last night
Signalling with a flashlight.
And what's that tune she's
Always whistling...?
What's she building in there?
What's she building in there?
We have a right to know...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."
I do have a small Elu router but not a real table saw - just a small mitre saw which I 'done for' by not fastening my wood down securely enough
I also have a brass dovetail marker, a dovetail saw, a small silver cast iron shoulder plane (in its own box which I made), a handmade wooden mallet (never used because it looks too beautiful ), a Verniers gauge - just the usual things people have knocking around in their sheds …

How about a soldering iron? The hot tip of such should heavily disrupt the magnetic properties of a hard disc platter if dragged slowly across its surface.
