Getting opera tracks in the right order in iTunes

Been a long time since I used this ghastly program but I need to take a few CD's with me tomorrow on my iPod. So I imported Tristan und Isolde but when I create a playlist of, say, Act 1 then the tracks are in reverse order and I can't find a way (other than dragging and dropping each track) of simply doing this. You used to be able to easily do it before Apple wrecked iTunes with their stupid 'improvements'.

Can anyone shed any light, please ?

    OK I finally found it.

I had forgotten what an utterly and profoundly depressing experience it is using this abysmal program. Soul-destroying.

Try renumbering the tracks. It may a while, but it's foolproof.

        Why use it then?

I think you need to select the playlist to be manually sorted and then sequence it by track number. Can't be sure, I'm away from my desktop.

This is a real pain - and not just opera: on several occasions, I've moved multiple tracks from my Library to make a Playlist to burn to CD, only to find that the "tracks" have been rearranged in alphabetical order! Who thought this would be useful facility for anybody?? Does anyone, whatever their taste in Music, ever think "Y'know what - I don't think I'll listen to this album as the artists intended; I'll listen to the tracks in alphabetical order instead"???!!! ::

I think something's wrong here. I've never had this problem with iTunes and my iPod.

Has it got something to do with the way you have the view options set?

Very possibly - but I haven't consciously changed it from when I installed i-Tunes onto my computer: AND, it doesn't seem to happen every time. But if I download a boxed set, or rip a CD to i-Tunes and wish to make a CD of a selection of the works, 4/5 times the tracks will appear in the playlist in alphabetical order. I don't seem to be doing anything different in the remaining 1/5 times when it just behaves itself.

Sometimes these track ordering oddities work well though.

i mean, I really Do think Pierrot Lunaire works even better with the " tracks " alternating with those from Das Buch Der Hangenden Garden".

Thinking about it, I haven't created a playlist for my iPod in nearly a year. Maybe this is due to a recent update to the system?

Ah! Could be - I've stopped updating i-Tunes because it caused other problems. Mebbe I should accept the latest updates in the hope that they've solved this glitch?

Well - bizarre as that seems to me, it's sanity itself compared with the "everything alphabetical" listeners. I can't help thinking of The Fast Show: "Today I have mainly been listening to Songs beginning with 'G'"!

                              Jessie's Playlists?

                              modern stuff eh?

Mrs TS has a rather nice ipod nanotouch or some such,( well I think it's nice, but then I bought it for her!) which can plug into the bespoke connector in my car.
but as a safety thing, I guess, my system only seems to allow shuffle, but shuffle ( in this context)seems to involve the alphabetical thing, so basically you have to listen to things A to Z, or scroll down alphabetically, which is both c**P, and rather defeats the safety aspects.

so basically , ( because it is hers) we listen to Abba, bellowhead, the B 52's, Bach( JS) and Bill Withers ( B not W apparently) in the car........

if we go on holiday, or visit rellies up north, we sometimes reach Gogol Bordello, or Handel .
