I just thought I'd check out how active the cpu has been in my recent video editing exercise. I am finding that Premiere Elements is now fast enough to make editing feasible, but not fast enough to catch up with a large number of "on the fly" effects, such as crop while playing etc. A certain amount of faith is needed to realise (hope) that eventually the desired effect will be delivered.
I ran Activity Monitor and set Premiere Elements to replay the clips I've been editing.
The percentage cpu was reported at various values - 147.3, 193.2, 163.7 etc. I figured that this might have made sense if each core of the machine is treated as a separate entity.
Then I noticed a new value .... 205. Maybe I imagined that, or a few other values over 200, or maybe there is a problem with the Activity Monitor.
Anyway, I figure that my surmise about the values above 100 must relate to the fact that this iMac machine has a Core Duo processor.
