Now THAT'S what I call a pair of loudspeakers....

The Construction Safety Store is America's largest manufacturer and distributor of traffic safety products. Located in West Chester, PA, we ship most orders same day...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Personally, I'm not so keen on these little bookshelf speakers.

I have a Pinterest page devoted to collecting some very esoteric speakers. There are some very weird and wonderful specimens on display.

Well, absolutely. I have four of these in my sitting room, for Quadrophonic sound. Two just didn't cut the mustard.

A fool and his (and it usually is his) money?
Here in Helsinki they seem to have Genelec speakers everywhere, even in little coffee shops.... they obviously know something most folks don't

                Do you have a subwoofer?

No, he always walks like that.

Drinking very expensive coffee and visiting someone at the Sibelius Academy for a rehearsal
whilst wallowing in the sounds of multiple expensive loudspeakers

Yes, I do. That is true; I obviously don't have any of the monstrosities illustrated above.

It is a passive subwoofer, bought in kit form from Wilmslow Audio well over twenty years ago, and still going strong. It has two 10" diameter speakers mounted face to face in a sealed and reflex-ported enclosure.

Just ignore Caliban's remarks; it does not affect my perambulations.

Trying to work out what that means. "Passive" = it doesn't do anything? "mounted face to face" = talks to itself?
