Seeing those "huge" circuit boards seems reminiscent of an earlier age, and they look a bit home made.
Also, doesn't NICAM only serve FM and perhaps AM? Unless NICAM has been upgraded (posssible) it does not deliver the level of quality needed for high quality digital broadcasting. Still, at least we now know that Long Wave is part of the electricity distribution network - for some suppliers at any rate.
