I've just got Windows 8 installed on a partition of my Mac (never mind why). But doesn't it automatically have some sort of email program? If so, where is it? If not, um, what is one supposed to do to set one up that will work with Windows?

But I had to buy a new copy of the one programme which needed Windows, purely because I spotted a cheap deal (£20) and couldn't face trying to explain/work out how to get my subscription reactivated to download it on to the MacBook partition. But it's all working fineSo far

Progress seems to be being made. One thing which you need to know is that a number of kayboard assignments are different in Windows on the Mac. If you use the Mac keyboard (inevitable with a laptop!) then it does help to have a table of useful keys. Most are fairly straightforward - knowing when to use CTRL or CMD etc., but there are some odd ones. Pages such as the following might help - if they don't confuse further, that is ....
If you've used Boot Camp to install Microsoft Windows on your Mac, the keyboard you use for macOS can also be used for Windows.
You have to admit Apple keyboard are slick, they are elegantly designed and well polished. If you happen to use an Apple keyboard primary on a Windows
There are some keys where the poor machines get confused I recall - such as @ and " and a few others which may simply get swapped over. However, the character confusion can be specific to machine and keyboard, so keep an eye open.
If you find any particular characters/keys a problem, post here, and hopefully someone will find a key or key combination which will work.
Depending on your hardware you might also find that Left and Right buttons present "issues". I found that using an Apple Magic Mouse with Windows. They do work, and will recognise Left or Right - but sometimes one has to be a bit assertive, and make a very definite press on the RHS to get the Windows menus up. Similar issues probably apply to trackpads - likely to be relevant for your MBP.
