Radio 3 not found on Sonos

Is anyone else having trouble with BBC Radio 3 on their Sonos system?
This morning I had unrecognised format messages.
Now it says station not found.
    Radio 4 is OK.

It might be just a temporary glitch but which Radio 3 stream were you accessing via your Sonos?

There was major disruption earlier this year when the BBC switched off their rtmp/aac streams.

As far as I understand it the following Radio 3 Live streams are currently available:

320 kbps HDS/aac (used by the BBC Flash player) and 320 kbps HLS/aac (for the Apple world)
These were new streams introduced in Feb/Mar of this year when the old rtmp/acc streams were stopped. This caused major disruption for users and manufacturers as hardly any hardware was capable of playing the new streams. I would guess that even now many (most?) streaming devices cannot play these streams though some manufacturers might have developed firmware fixes for some of their devices.

    320 kbps RTMP/AAC (Radio 3 only)
Because of the furore caused by the changes the BBC re-introduced this temporary 320 rtmp/aac stream for Radio 3 only (it uses the same format the streams that the BBC switched off). At the time the BBC stated that this temporary stream would only continue until the end of the Proms season, but it is still running. The URL for this stream is shown below and should give much better quality than the 128 kbps mp3 streams:
    Code:
    http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/5/select/version/2.0/mediaset/http-icy-aac-lc-a/format/pls/vpid/bbc_radio_three.pls
    128 kbps mp3
Provided through various "aggregators" as a fall back for users unable to access the then new 320kbps HDS/HLS streams. Following the changes earlier this year, this was the only stream that the overwhelming majority of devices could use. These 128 kbps mp3 streams were intended to be international streams so they did *not* carry any sport broadcasts (though I don't know whether that has changed).

If you are accessing the 128 kbps mp3 stream and that has stopped - it might be a problem with the aggregator used by Sonos (I think it might be" TuneIn").

In any case, you might want to try the temporary 320 kbps rtmp/aac URL I gave.

320 kbps HDS/aac (used by the BBC Flash player) and 320 kbps HDS/aac

      Thanks, johnb.
This is a little over my head but I will mention it tomorrow or Saturday when the supplier who installed it is going to ring me back. We can check if the system in their shop is misbehaving too.
Radio 3 seems not to feature in the Tune In lists, so there might be some Sonos incompatibility, as I think you suggest.
But then my iPad, where I control it from, has had a system update today too. Perhaps I should download the Sonos app again.

And it is for me today!
Will still chat to the friendly chap at Richer Sounds when he rings (minor annoyance with a message that keeps appearing on new smart TV to try to sort out too!).

Sounds like good news Pulcers, especially after reading message 2

Reverting to the kitchen transistor isn't going to do at all for that Stockhausen in January.........

There was always the smart tv soundbar option using R3 on Freesat.
A few dropouts earlier on on Sonos (yes, I'm enduring Essential Classics to check its behaviour); seems OK now.
And it's a Denon M38DAB in the kitchen/dining room; a bit better than the Roberts DAB radio in the bedroom!
