I use an iPhone to post here. How does one place a photo or a link here from iOS?

For a link it's the 9th icon from the right for the pop-up.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I’ll try and set out my approach when I get a moment later
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Here's a cut-and-paste version of my reply to his post - but I'm sure, Nick, that your iPhone instructions will be much more relevant & useful.
[Roger], the forum needs a link (URL) to a hosted image.
I'm using IMGBB to upload photos - it's free and will keep them online for you (or be deleted after a time).
Go to their website, https://imgbb.com/, click on "Start Uploading", tell it which image you want to upload... finally choose "BBcode fully linked" and copy the URL which you can paste directly in to your forum post.
The BBcode (Bulletin board code) will look something like this:
Code:[url=https://imgbb.com/][img]https://i.ibb.co/BTWnJbq/2024-06-13-Image.png[/img][/url]
Or, you can use the insert "Image" button if you just want to use the URL for the image from their BBcode, it looks something like this:
Code:https://i.ibb.co/BTWnJbq/2024-06-13-Image.png

1. Find your uploading site - this is the search I use and as others have said the first result ImgBB is the easiest one to use, I’ve found:
2. When you open ImgBB, click the ‘Start Uploading’ button - a selection opens and I always choose the first as any pic I want to upload I’ll have saved to my Photos in the phone first:
3. Having selected the photo you want, just click the green ‘upload’ button:
4. When the picture has been uploaded, you then have another choice, of ‘embed code’ - you need to select ‘BBCode full linked’:
5. Just copy that link and paste it into your Forum post.
6. Use the ‘preview’ function under your Forum draft to check all is well before posting. Sometimes you may find that some extraneous red text appears just under your image, copied over with the code from ImgBB - just delete it, it seems to be some form of advertising…
Hope the above is clear Do ask if not!

This is a bridge too far for me. On the Forum Link there are multiple question boxes before one even gets to the box asking for the URL and I don’t know what is required here. And then when I tap the add URL box to try and drop the IMgg URL nothing happens. An hour and a half just went by the wayside. Thanks anyway to those that tried to assist me

I had similar problems with previous attempts (but must admit to not having tried Nick's method) so asked ff to kindly upload a photo for me recently.
And before that, ts ably came to the rescue.Last edited by Pulcinella; 20-10-24, 13:37. Reason: Superfluous 'the' (left when I changed 'the same' to 'similar') deleted.

All you do is paste the url (which fills in the size of your image automatically), click on OK and write your message. The worst that will happen is that the image will either be enormous or very small, both adjustable. You don't have to drop the image in.

So I guess I will just use the laptop when I want to link something. The Imbb screen on the iphone doesnt seem to be stable at least on my phone. It keeps jumping around, resizing, and doing other odd gymnastics
the image above is the FLW string quartet stand that I referenced in another post
