If you were a Time Lord, vinchaud (and you very well may be!), I have had a vision of exactly how you must dress when in 'work' mode....

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Oh, well, it doesn't matter. I've had to contact Dial-A-Geek to get me out of the mess, now I've disovered that it's a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse I can't no way get the iMac to find them. Ich habe genug.

Thank goodness I've still got the old, creaky machine - at least I can work it.

(And I connected the LaCie to the new computer with the USB cable and it didn't work. Dead as a dodo.

Is he demonstrating how a timelord would take a catch at head height in the slips, off a very fast bowler ?
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

Sounds as though you really do have a problem with that old drive then.

Re Bluetooth don't you have to do something in System Preferences to turn it on, then go to the Keyboard and Mouse sections to "fire them up"? Might be slightly different in your OS version. Also some devices won't pair up properly with Mac OS - often if they've already been paired with something else. If that's the case then there's nearly always a brute force procedure to unpair the devices allowing them to connect to a different machine. Another possible problem is if you run another Mac with a Bluetooth keyboard or device at the same time. That can block new connections to other machines. The solution is to turn off anything else which mght interfere with the Bluetooth pairing. You should only have to do that once, to get the devices linked.

            Good luck!

I've had a Mr Bean couple of hours going up and down the stairs with the USB keyboard and mouse, struggling, googling, going upstairs and realising I've left the keyboard and/or mouse downstairs, going downstairs and bringing them back up, fiddling, googling, going downstairs, realising I've left the keyboard and/ or mouse upstairs, going upstairs …

I've spent all the time I can spare. Over to the professionals
