    Live webcasts

What equipment is needed to broadcast a live webcast from the Proms?

As some may know , I'm not very well versed in technology - is a 'webcast' in fact what's meant if a programme can be watched live 'online'? I assume that means it can ONLY be viewed online …

Should clarify: when I say 'live online', I mean it is NOT being televised live (but you can watch it, live).

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Thanks, Anastasius. The reason I ask is because it appears as if some extra 'live Proms' have been announced which (I don't think) were on the original list. Judging from the dates these will be live:

Prom 8: Late Night With ... BBC Asian Network, watch online at bbc.co.uk/proms, 22 July
Prom 16: Late Night With ... BBC Radio 1, watch online at bbc.co.uk/proms, 29 July
Prom 27: Late Night With ... BBC Radio 6 Music, watch online at bbc.co.uk/proms, 5 August
Prom 37: Late Night With ... BBC Radio 1Xtra, watch online at bbc.co.uk/proms, 12 August

I can see that this might reach the intended audiences better than if they had to either attend the concert or listen on Radio 3. But would the same set-up produce acceptable classical concerts, and if so why don't they offer them?
