    Foam inserts

some years back there were scare stories (here and elsewhere) of foam inserts deteriorating and sticking to CDS. At the time I dutifully removed all the foam inserts in my CDs - or so I thought. Have just got down the Michel Chapuis Bach organ works, and found there are foam inserts in all the boxes - and, yes, some of them have deteriorated and stuck to the CDs...

What is the current advice on cleaning this off? Is it a case of warm soapy water - or is something more high-tech recommended??

Not had this problem for some time, but I would expect warm soapy water to do the trick.
Might need a little mechanical help - very soft sponge maybe.

    Just don't use Brillo pads.

I made the mistake of using IPA* on Trevor Pinnock's "King Arthur", it removed the blue ink on the CDs - they still play though. (The TP box set has a spare set of CDs, but not booklet).

      * isopropyl alcohol, not India pale ale.

I shall try India Pale Ale next time. Soap and water have removed just about everything I’ve never needed to remove from a silver disc, and if. Not I use the lens cleaning solutions for eye glasses.
