    GG,

Demon Dial-up service isn't what you think it is, it's not a pre-broadband internet speed, it's just the basic demon domain + email package they offered in the 1990s which many like to keep. I have BT Infinity Broadband and my Demon email is collected by Outlook via POP3 and that's enough to keep me and my family and my business ticking over. I have non-Demon domains for the business and for music podcasting.

Ooops...nearly missed one email address to alter. I had an item on eBay and although I'd changed my eBay email details, the actual listing had my old email address for payment via PayPal.

So email address changed everywhere and the old one is due to go on 7th July.

Anastasius, as you suspected the lady agent at Demon gave me duff information - my Demon website WAS migrated. It only became apparent to me last week when I wanted to upload new files/images.

So I've had to register with NamesCo and start paying a fiver a month. There was a snag - I couldn't upload via FTP at first, but the man at NamesCo was very helpful and worked out he had to help me change my password.

I would have to change the domain name in 2 years, but in fact I have another larger domain with LCN and I will likely put everything to do with music there, and eventually won't need NamesCo.

For them to work at my other domain the html links between all those webpages will need changing. And at the old domain I'll have to put a relocation message in all the old pages for a year or so, so others can update their links. A bit of work to do, but not a huge amount, and it will encourage me to update some biography pages that have been around for nearly two decades.

Demon still say I can keep my e-mail addresses but I may follow you and change all that in time.

Well, if you do and you have a Mac then Keychain Access is very handy for putting your old Demon address in the search box and then looking down the list to see if there is anyone or any site you missed. Some, such as newspaper websites, are easy enough to re-register with a new email address.

BUT avoid upgrading to Mavericks from Snow Leopard at all costs
You are likely to end up with your computer asking for the "local keychain password" which is the one that was typed in the first time ever your computer was used (yeah I have that on the tip of my tongue )

Ouch! Have to confess that my upgrade to Mavericks was pretty seamless. I've not bothered with Yosemite but having briefly looked at El Capitan there do appear to be a few useful improvements....if only I had a trackpad.
