Probably like your car, I have two USB sockets, 3.5mm input, a cigar-lighter and Bluetooth. I used to do that too with my iPod, but I find the iPhone/Bluetooth with access to Apple Music is better for me. I don't know if there is a Teasmade adaptor for your iPod - Dave'll know and will probably tell us it doesn't work with Earl Grey!
I take it nobody still has one of those mini 12v immersion heaters that run off the cig lighter socket?
    very handy they were.

incidentally, I wish Audi would put in a 3,5mm socket as well as their own unique system.

and who thought that putting the CD player in the glove box was an improvement?
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I can picture you, whipping it out on a cold journey
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Reminds me of the advert that used to run in Cinemas - woman driving to clifftop to be alone (there's some bloke behind it all - you can tell) and gaze into the distance. She sees a jar of Nescafé House, and has a handy flask of water, so makes herself a drink using such an immersion heater, and this makes everything all right.

I used to have a mini vacuum cleaner that used the cig lighter socket. USELESS, it was.

Not an image for the fainthearted, that.

could have done with one today on the average speed 7 MPH ( or whatever) drive to Ferney's old stamping ground.

seriously, the roads in this country are appalling.
so this discussion ( tries to veer back on topic) about portable musical technology is very welcome.

I am finding the SD slots in my car a positive boon, musically speaking.

I think I might have a couple of them - what I really want is an ejector-seat

I had one of those mini car-vacs. It actually worked really well and I was gutted when it gave up the ghost after about 5 years!

White body, opaque green schnozzle with black wires and adaptor (I imagine that was going to be your next question).

                    You called, sirs!

Not Apple kit, nor compatible, but there are USB cup warmers - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Accessotech-...mug+heater+usb

I had a USB coffee warmer once - still lurking somewhere. Given to me as a present. Did reduce the cooling rate a little.

There are other models too if you just look around, though no Teasmades that I'm aware of.

I wonder if they'd work with the iPad USB kits (for cameras). Probably not - and might burn the tablets out!

Sounds familiar - I bought mine from Halfords; I might have had a dud, but it basically just didn't suck anything up, just shoved the stuff around on the seat/carpet.

Having road tested Audirvana some time ago, I’ve just downloaded a trial version of JRiver.

I really didn’t notice much difference between Audirvana and my bog standard iTunes. Initially, I appear to be having the same experience with JRiver.

Maybe things will change during this trial, we’ll see.

I notice a definite improvement when I run my iTunes with a DAC, however. I have two; ESS Sabre32 Reference DAC (ES9018-K2M DAC) and a Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC.

Interesting Beefy. What problem are you having with J River?
Also-what DAC are you using. You've named the chips in the DAC but DACs consist of more parts than the conversion chip.

I’m not clued up on this sort of stuff. But here goes - Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC with Texas Instruments OPA1642/LMH6643 chips. In a metal case.

Hmm...over here I think Cirrhus Logic is just a chip manufacturer, but perhaps in Europe they make the whole shebang...
Anyway, I'm just curious what the problem is with J River. I haven't tried myself

But which metal case, mischief? Loads of DACs and CD Players (Marantz, Audiolab etc) use the chips you mention in various configurations.... what's yours - or have you built your own?
