Converting Word to PDF - help please

Can anyone suggest a simple programme I can download for converting Word to PDF? The mainstream products such as Adobe are not cheap. I only want to convert an occasional document, I don't need anything fancy. I don't mind paying. The freebies come with adverts (and I worry about malware) - I do not trust them.

    Just "print" as a PDF
Won't cost you anything age you already have the software

Yes, even the open-source version I once used decided to change the installer so it tried to download things I definitely did not want.

If you are on Office 2007 there is a free Microsoft plugin at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...s.aspx?id=9943 which works beautifully so long as you don't need to include images at high resolution (it automatically compresses them and limits the resolution which is what you usually want.) I think it is built in to later versions.

        Thanks Gongers and Techie.

I'm still on Word 2003 on my main computer - and still on Vista

It will need replacing soon but I'm waiting for Windows 10 (or perhaps a Mac). No way will I use Windows 8.

I didn't know there was a way to do it directly from Word 2007. I'll have a go moving them to the laptop and converting on that. It has the awful Windows 8 though

I have Word for Mac 2008, and it's a great boon to Save As in any number of formats, straight from the Word docx: notably .doc, .txt, .rtf and pdf.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I suspect our OP's "mistake" was to try to use a Windows machine. As mentioned, Mac OS has the print to PDF feature built in.

Here are some suggestions for Windows - http://www.howtogeek.com/150891/how-...ps-and-tricks/

I didn't even know there was such a thing as XPS before!

Find help and how-to articles for Windows operating systems. Get support for Windows and learn about installation, updates, privacy, security and more.

There are a bunch of XPS to PDF convertors. Don't know which are any good. Some of them do PDF to XPS too.

I too feared Windows 8, but you get used to it and then you never look back.

              Unlike Windows Vista...

trivial under Linux eg with open office - put a version of Linux (eg Mint) on a USB stick and use that way or just buy an old cheap laptop and install over top of any windoze - local reputable shops often sell such resonably spec'd laptops for under £100
