When using mobile devices - such as dongles or mifi units - it may be very desirable to control how much data gets downloaded, particularly over 3G or 4G networks, in order to (a) keep costs down and/or (b) keep the allowances as high as possible to maximise usage.
One possible source of problems could be due to podcasts, which might have been set up some while ago. For example, there are podcasts for Building a Library, and a few other R3 programmes. Is there any easy way of managing these so that they don't activate automatically when in "mobile" mode?
Also, if there are other problems with mobile operation, it would be good to know of them. The point is to try to conserve the data allowances for "essential" use while on the move, while still enabling podcasts and other tasks to operate appropriately - such as at (free!) wifi hotspots, or when connected to suitable lower cost or free networks.
