    Acoustics - Saturday Classics

Today's Saturday Classics has Trevor Cox with some interesting insights into acoustics.

I'm not sure that I can hear the difference between a crescendo in Berlin and one in VIenna though. Maybe others can.

Prof Trevor Cox introduces his favourite music, including Wagner, Bach, Debussy and Liszt.

    Thanks for this

He says some interesting things about the whole 432 nonsense on his blog

I am a Professor of Acoustic Engineering at the University of Salford where I carry out research and teaching focussing on architectural acoustics, signal processing and audio perception. I am also…

The one in Vienna is softer, being further away.

Surely it's quieter (volume/amplitude) ? "soft" being a timbral distinction (though in this case it would be both)

I think MrGG is referring to the nonsense that some people spout about A = 440 being very BAD and that we should all use 432Hz, which is harmoniously GOOD.
