    Struck dumb.

Earlier this afternoon there was a near simultaneous lightning flash and thumderclap. Since the then I have had no Internet connection at home. I hope Virgin Media get it up and running soon. I have bills to pay in the next few days and would rather not pay via a smart phone.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

      is your modem/router ok?

Mine got wrecked by a lightening strike power surge thing a few years back.

interesting fault here in Surrey - lost internet to all my open sites - then DNS appeared to be down so switched over to Google DNS - all UK/Manx came back immediately + some North American sites tho Slashdot remained unavailable for about 3 hours

Ah, I wondered why I couldn't access my main news provider, AOL, this morning. Have recently switched from AOL to BT as broadband provider. When it's working the BT hub is noticeably faster than AOL, but every couple of days it goes AWOL and needs to be turned off and on. Thought that was the problem this morning when I couldn't access AOL(though my AOL email was still reachable). But, alleluia, connecting to this message board for BaL showed that something was still working. AOL became accessible mid-morning.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!
