Sometimes one can speed up web page loading by forcing one's system to use different DNS addresses.
Here is a page which discusses this - http://www.howtogeek.com/164981/how-...-web-browsing/
There seem to be two preferred forms of DNS alternative: Google and Open DNS.
The addresses for Google are:
Preferred: 888.888.888.888 and
Alternate: 888.888.444.444
The addresses for Open DNS are
Preferred: 208.67.222.222
Alternate: 208.67.220.220
Knowing these can be very useful if your internet connection does not work, or works intermittently, and can also speed up accesses considerably.
However, I note the following comment in the article mentioned:
I would be very suspicious about that - how much can we trust Google to maintain a network impartial system, and not to gather data?
Probably not at all!
I don't know whether Open DNS offers any guarantees about not tracking web sites usage.
One reasons why a DNS service provider may not track user behaviour might simply be because of timing and complexity issues. Google does have sufficient resources to overcome some of the technical difficulties, whereas other organisations may not, and simply provide a service which "does what it says on the tin."
This page shows how to add more DNS servers to a Mac OS X system - http://macs.about.com/od/faq1/f/browserdns.htm

We opted to go with Google DNS for now — while they could use this data to track your browsing habits, personally we’re not that worried about it.
