    Logging in

Is anyone else experiencing a problem of continually having to log in their details when replying to posts on this forum today? I'm wondering why this should be.

    I'm not

No problem with logging on by computer but I find that I now have to log in every time I access the Forum on my Sony Xperia. It's the same with my Hotmail account and in neither case does it 'remember me' next time I try even though I tick the box.

Just re-logged on for the 5th time today. I'm wondering if forgetting to tick the "remember me" box had anything to do with it, but I'd hardly think so, as normally I'm always logged on, whenever I rejoin the forum.

Are you doing it on the same machine, same browser, nothing, no settings changed? Because nothing has been done to the forum software (there are no automatic updates).

The vBulletin advice that I found was that the problem would be on the 'end-user's computer'.

I hesitate to offer comments from my experience because I have no real insight into this but am moved to do so since it does seem to driving you nuts. When I clean out cookies - which I do fairly regularly using Ccleaner - I then have to log in again, so I presume details are stored in the cookie. Maybe you are somehow deleting cookies or have opted not to store them .

Even when I do have to re-login after this, though, Firefox immediately fills in the rest of my details and as soon as I enter the first letter of my name and by ticking "remember me", I then don't have to log in any more.

              Happy hunting for a solution!

Yes, same machine, ff. On reaching the forum the red markers are always at the head of the page telling me I will need to log in. As soon as I post a reply to another post, I'm told I need to log in - obviously. I click to reveal the logging in page, and on it my details already in place. All I have to do is click enter, and I'm in. However, if subsequently I go onto the Politics subforum, or backspace to a previous page, I am logged off and have to repeat the process. It's no big deal, just a bit of a nuisance, given that the problem has only come up in the past 3 days.

My computer techie did a number of updates for me a week ago, which I suppose could be the cause of this, as I now keep getting timed out, which didn't happen before; so this may be an indication as to what is wrong. But thanks.

They are indeed in the cookie placed on your computer when you check the Remember Me box. It sounds as if your techie altered a setting which deletes certain cookies automatically.

Aha - could be it. Thanks! I was concerned this might be a general problem, which appears not to be the case; I'm due a new computer anyway, in the next few days.
