I find your rambling difficult to follow. What has the misguided path of Radio 3 and David Bowie and T.Rex got to do with this? If I wanted to be really rude I would suggest that you grow up, but as I'm an old (gentle)man I won't say that. How old are you anyway? I'm not bothered but I get the impression that you could be a teenager.

Boringly back on topic.....
In my system I can't hear any difference between good optical and cheap 'digital' cable but there could be differences introduced by some DACs depending on the type of connection. A few years ago I would certainly have said that a cable is superior but that may have been with the system I was using then or it may have been when my hearing worked better. The length of the connection may also be a factor. I would suggest that it is well worth trying the experiment in any system and using your ears. Just for once, it is a cheap test to conduct.Comment
