On the ONF thread, I just suggested you were "sexist under the skin", Ariosto - well, just edit out the "under the skin", bit... "deeply" might be a better fit.
Right. Back to Sky Sports 1. My time will be FAR better spent...
You are more than welcome to join us on the footy thread Jayne, the friendliest on the forum.
Your boys done good today.

Yes, sexist accusations are easy to make when you have lost the argument. It's the usual fall back position when original ideas fail. How utterly boring!
Footy might just be the right level for you! Keep off the techie/music critic stuff.
I'm sure this might also upset some footy fans, but it's personal now and not aimed at them. I have to say I've never been a footy fan, but there's no harm in people liking it, as some of my ex-colleagues did.

Yeah.... exactly WHICH argument was I, a mere Young Lady, supposed to have lost...?
"keep off the techie/music critic stuff"
Shall I talk about why I admire the work of Wilma Cozart-Fine, Lewis Layton and Richard Mohr, Robert Suff and Ingo Petry, Kenneth Wilkinson, Andrew Keener, Tony Faulkner...? www.soundfountain.comamb/mercury.html
...if I'd encountered this attitude in 1974 instead of Gramophone and Radio 3, I'd have run screaming back to David Bowie and T.Rex...
...and you and HS would have lost part of your audience.
And you wonder why Radio 3 has followed its recent misguided path?
Yea, I can list names too. I have worked with more than one of the names you like to put about and use to try and convince me and others about your arguments. Lost the argument (just read my posts)? You have and it is obvious - just wanting to trade insults. Well I'm not going to do that with someone who has lost control.
I find your rambling difficult to follow. What has the misguided path of Radio 3 and David Bowie and T.Rex got to do with this? If I wanted to be really rude I would suggest that you grow up, but as I'm an old (gentle)man I won't say that. How old are you anyway? I'm not bothered but I get the impression that you could be a teenager.
Now I am going out for a walk and will avoid further pseudo intellectual discussions with you, interesting though they are. Maybe I am just trying to protect my sanity.
In my system I can't hear any difference between good optical and cheap 'digital' cable but there could be differences introduced by some DACs depending on the type of connection. A few years ago I would certainly have said that a cable is superior but that may have been with the system I was using then or it may have been when my hearing worked better. The length of the connection may also be a factor. I would suggest that it is well worth trying the experiment in any system and using your ears. Just for once, it is a cheap test to conduct.
