    BBC Sounds problems

Following my apparently successful complaint about the end of the Tchaikovsky Souvenir de Florence being missing from last Friday's lunchtime concert (see http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...op-shop/page32), it would be useful to know for future reference which of my complaints did the trick. I emailed lunchtime.concert@bbc.co.uk and tweeted to @BBCSounds and @BBCRadio3

And does anyone have a more direct line?

The contact system is annoyingly convoluted but does usually result in problems getting resolved.

I got to that page but it was certainly too convoluted for me. I just seemed to go round in circles always ending up at FAQ so I gave up

...........which at a guess, must have been in the minds of the very engineer who set it up!!! Make it tricky so while you've 'ticked a box' you've also intimidated the complainant!

        Neat.

And...AAAARRGGHHH...it has just asked me to sign in AGAIN (user name, password). WHY??? Don't they want people to use it?
The ironic thing is that if you use Google to find the programme you want, or to listen live, it gets you there. So why all this Sounds rubbish???

I guess this has all been said before. It is just SO annoying.

          As for making a complaint:

...that's what they want of course. I'll put pen to paper. Hope they're shaking in their shoes.

Why sign/log out in the first place?

I never sign out. Every so often (e.g. this morning) I have to sign in again on my iPhone. However, if I just Google Radio 3 Live it bypasses all the nonsense and I get straight there. It's just stupidity on the part of the BBC.

Rather annoyingly I somehow got signed out of the app on Android yesterday and all my downloads were deleted. Took some time to get them back (it seemed to loose the download queue). Anybody else had this issue? Apologies for somewhat hijacking this thread. It came to me as I saw the most recent post.

Trying to listen to the Giulini/EUYO Prom again on BBC Sounds and finding constant buffering so given up. I don't use BBC Sounds that much but have never had this issue before when I do.

Is this poor internet connection (not exactly the best round here) or a problem with Sounds?

The BBC servers do sometimes get a bit overloaded but I think a local problem more likely. Try using get_iplayer to save the relevant file in m4a format and see it that offers a smoother listening experience on playback. When get_iplayer encounters such problems it tries again until it either gets it right or, after several attempts, has to give up.

Seems fine for me - (currently listening to an episode of Cotw so not live) Have you done a speed test on your connection? I thought Sounds (in theory) matched it's quality to your speed to avoid buffering but could be talking rot.

Have you got the app for mobile/tablet? Might be worth downloading your concert of choice to avoid the annoying stops/starts.

I long gave up with Sounds. "This content doesn't seem to be working "

Sounds like the venerable game of of Vish.

                              Version for Android: 1.22.0.12806
                              Updated on: 26 January 2021

Since installing the above update, programmes keep pausing every few minutes. This applies both when listening live and on demand. Before the update everything was fine. I note that other users are experiencing the same problem

I have submitted a fault report to the BBC and await their response.
