    More iPlayer problems ....

Today there seem to be problems with iPlayer using our Roku HD stick. This has been working reasonably well now for months.
Tonight there are messages saying that iPlayer can't load programs - "Something went wrong loading this programme ....This is usually a temporary problem ..." Well, it wasn't particularly temporary. The error occurred over a moderately extended period, while trying to access several different programmes.

I even tried removing the iPlayer app from the Roku stick, then putting it back. That didn't work.

Then I tried removing my user name from iPlayer - and then signed back in again. That didn't work.

Finally, to check that the link and the device are working I tried other channels, such as TED. These work.

    So what is going wrong?

The version seems to be 3.5.

Fortunately we are now gradually getting other devices and systems operational, so we were able to watch Only Connect and University Challenge live, but it is a worry that the internet versions of BBC channels doesn't seem reliable enough.

I have no idea what to do next - except hope that maybe tomorrow this will start to work again.

    Search doesn’t always work

Another iPlayer/Sounds issue noted recently. We quite often listen to the Rumpole radio drama series with various different readers. They help to put us to sleep.

We heard one a few nights ago with Benedict Cumberbatch. I tried to find it on my iPad, but couldn’t. This seemed odd, as it was clearly on another which we use. At first it looked as though it had indeed disappeared but then we found that using Google instead of the search within the BBC apps could find several episodes which the apps did not list.

Indeed this has returned again today, but what happened yesterday? It wasn't a short term glitch.

I was going to try out the Now TV boxes to see if they were affected - but no point now.

No sign of either tonight's concert or Free Thinking being made available to 'Listen Again' to via the iPlayer as yet. Strange, I wonder what is holding them up.
